The Autumn Internationals have brought around a break in competitive games for Connacht Supporters to attend for a while.

But it doesn't mean that there is no Connacht involvement in the rugby that is being played during this window.

So far we've seen Mike McCarthy turn in an outstanding Man of The Match performance against two time World Champions, South Africa at the Aviva last weekend. And another little cameo yesterday against Fiji for the Ireland XV/Wolfhounds (whatever they were/weren't).

In the same fixture John Muldooon finally made another deserved appearance in an Ireland jersey, even if it was a non-cap fixture. Sadly Mul appeared to be injured by Conor Murray who was unceremoniously dumped out of a ruck which Mul was moving forward to join. Mul has sadly confirmed today on Twitter that he'll be out for a couple of months with some knee ligament damage. Great shame with the back to back HEC fixtures against Biarritz only a few weeks away.

But as the man himself comments on Twitter "The Road to recovery has already begun"

Back to the positive side of things, our fleet-footed Tongan wing Fetu'u Vainikolo has been in outanding form in both of Tonga's Autumn tests so far. He scored Tonga's second try in a narrow loss last weekend in Italy in Brescia. And this weekend he finished off a super Tongan move early in their fxture in Colwyn Bay, Wales against the USA Eagles (at 11:35 mins on IRB site match replay below).

To top it off he made the descisive contribution to Tonga's second try with some wonderful footwork and a stunning offload (at 01:24 on IRB Match replay). With Connacht's Heineken Cup back to back fixtures against Biarritz Olympique coming up this sort of form is great news for Eric Elwood.
